HINESBURG, VT – The Democratic Primary for Lieutenant Governor is quickly approaching. One of the candidates believes a candidate’s income is important information for voters.

Today, Senator David Zuckerman and his wife, Rachel Nevitt, are making their personal tax return for the year 2015 available.  As a candidate for Lieutenant Governor, Zuckerman believes that transparent disclosure of one’s financial situation is important from all candidates.

“All the Democratic candidates for Governor released their returns and I believe it is also important in this race as we are only a heartbeat away from the Governor’s office,” said Zuckerman. He continued, “This information gives the voters a very concrete view of my economic reality and shows my family faces the same economic challenges as many.”

Zuckerman is the only candidate for Lt. Governor who is working full time on his farm while keeping up a rigorous campaign schedule.

Their return shows an adjusted gross income of $63,977 consisting of $33,429 in wages, $24,676 in net income from their organic farm in Hinesburg and a loss on rental property in Burlington, $7,055 in investment income, and $125 honorarium for speaking fees.

The average Adjusted Gross income per person in Vermont in 2014 was $26,234 according to the VT Tax Department. Zuckerman’s household per person income was $21,332. Median household income was $52,977.

Zuckerman and Nevitt paid a total of $2,213 in federal income tax on taxable income of  $28,079, a rate of 10.8% of their taxable income.
