BURLINGTON, VT – The race for Vermont’s second in command is heating up a month before the November 8th election. Republican Randy Brock has released two negative radio ads that attack the character of his opponent Sen. David Zuckerman (Progressive/Democrat).

Zuckerman says his opponent is out-of-touch on the issues Vermonters care about so he has no other option but launching what he characterizes as “baseless character attacks.” In a video to supporters Zuckerman outlines the issues his campaign is focused on. They include boosting the minimum wage, expanding the rural economy and getting high-speed internet to every corner of the state. Then Zuckerman addresses the attacks directly.

“My opponent can talk about whatever he wants but we won’t stand by while he twists my words and my record. That’s why we’ve put together a simple comparison on my website. Visit ZuckermanForVT.com/FactCheck and judge the facts for yourself,” says Zuckerman.
Zuckerman’s fact-check website breaks down Brock’s attacks and offers a simple explanation. For example:

Brock: “You’ve said the discrimination that minorities experience is like the scrutiny faced by men with long hair.”

Facts: Zuckerman on VPR Meet the candidates – 5 minute mark, July 8, 2016: “All of us have to examine ourselves and how do we react when we see a person of color walking down the street or a person with long hair or a person with any stereotypical characteristic and say- wait a minute, am I stereotyping that person based on some characteristic that they have? So I think it’s not just law enforcement but all of us have to look at our inherent biases and really evaluate ourselves before we begin telling other people what they need to do.”
