BURLINGTON, VT – Local officials are weighing in on the Lieutenant Governor Democratic primary.

Today, in his bid to be Vermont’s next Lieutenant Governor, Senator David Zuckerman received endorsements from a majority of Burlington’s city council. Zuckerman served as a Representative from Burlington for fourteen years before becoming a State Senator for the Chittenden district.

“I’m supporting David because he has the life, work, and legislative experience to be a powerful voice for all Vermonters,” said Tom Ayers, Councilor representing Ward 7 in Burlington’s New North End.

Burlington City Council President Jane Knodell describes her support for Zuckerman this way. “He is a proven leader who knows what it takes to build an economy that works for everyone–young and old, farmer and consumer, rural and urban. He has established himself as a straight shooter who has earned the trust of his constituents as well as his colleagues in Montpelier,” said Knodell.

Zuckerman has also earned the support of Sharon Foley Busher (Ward 1), Max Tracy (Ward 2), Sara Giannoni (Ward 3), Adam Roof (Ward 8), and Selene Colburn (East District).

“I am honored to have earned the support of councilors across the City of Burlington,” said Zuckerman. “Adding the support of the majority of the City Council to the growing list of current and former elected officials from the area exemplifies the long relationship I have with the people of Burlington.  For 20 years I have served Burlington citizens both in the legislature and at the Farmers’ Market. Burlingtonians know they can reach me anytime.”

Zuckerman also has the endorsement of current Burlington legislators Sen. Philip Baruth, Rep. Curt McCormack, Rep. Jean O’Sullivan and Rep. Chris Pearson as well as former legislators Suzi Wizowaty, Barbara Grimes, Dean Corren, Terry Bouricius, Steve Hingtgen and Mayor Peter Clavelle.
